The First Week Home

The first week home was spent resting and running back and forth to the doctor.  On the first day, we made a trip to the pediatrician's office where we found out that Kyler had jaundice.  Since the level was on the higher side of the scale, a biliblanket was sent to our house.  The biliblanket is a UV paddle that Kyler had to lay on for 48 hours until the jaundice levels went down.  Luckily the blanket and his heavy appetite helped to lower the levels very quickly and we were free to go back to normal.  We quickly found that our new "normal" would be set by Kyler.  He is a very consistent eater, eating every 3-4 hours, and sleeping in between.  During the first week, Kyler also had his first bath.  Unlike his mom, we have found that he greatly dislikes baths and he cries and screams from the time it starts until you wrap him in his towel.  Overall though, he is a fairly easy baby.  His crying is always a sign that he is hungry or ready for a diaper change.  He likes to cuddle with Mommy and be swaddled and his favorite way to fall asleep is on his Daddy's chest.  Mommy or Daddy's boy?  I think it is a tie :)
